Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the virtues of family football scholarship and community service. The first line of his family was that he's the youngest out of nine kids who were raised within Eufala by Lucious Selmon. Also, he was one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. All three became All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award as the nation's best lineman. In his time as Oklahoma's starting quarterback, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. He received a third scholarship in 1975. He was also selected as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned his diploma in education. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week during his time at college. After graduation, he landed in Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers was the all-pro 3 times, and began a business career. His first job was as an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 youths in the US. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs during his time playing college football. He was a captain in 1975. led the team. In 1993 he joined the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. The College Football Hall of Fame named him as a member in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
