Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a family of 12 poor kids who would grow together eventually, learned very early on how to conquer of the difficulties she faced with her incredibly vibrant imagination. Before learning how to read and write, Dolly Parton was creating her own songs. Within 8 years she got her first guitar. When she was 11 years old when she was 11, she began singing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. The first album she recorded was during the same year Gold Band Records, a small label that was an independent. Although she was in school, she had already established herself in the local music scene. But her dream was to be able to play on a larger scale. When she was graduating in 1964, she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female vocalist to join his syndicated show at this point. Parton took the job in 1966. She then was signed to RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. In 1974, she quit Wagoner's Show because the success of her own songs such as Joshua Coats of Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it debuted at Number. The first time it made it to the top spot was in 1974.
